{"id":11049,"date":"2015-04-24T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-04-24T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/canadianferry.ca\/news-princess-of-acadia-ferry-replacement-to-set-sail-this-spring\/"},"modified":"2015-04-24T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2015-04-24T04:00:00","slug":"news-princess-of-acadia-ferry-replacement-to-set-sail-this-spring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianferry.ca\/fr\/news-princess-of-acadia-ferry-replacement-to-set-sail-this-spring\/","title":{"rendered":"News: Princess of Acadia ferry replacement to set sail this spring"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CBC - April 24, 2015<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"yui_3_11_0_1_1429880863681_29\" class=\"story-deck\">Result of contest to name new ferry, which will travel between Saint John and Digby, not yet released<\/h3>\n<p>The Princess of Acadia ferry's replacement\u00a0will go into service some time this spring, according to Transport Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Work to refit the $44.6-million ship for service in the Bay of Fundy,\u00a0between Saint John and Digby, N.S., is ongoing\u00a0in Halifax, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>The new ship will be faster and more efficient than the old Princess of Acadia.\u00a0It will\u00a0also offer\u00a0improved onboard amenities, including various passenger lounges and a cafeteria.<\/p>\n<p>Canada purchased the 124-metre vessel, formerly known as\u00a0Ithaki,\u00a0from a Greek ferry operator last fall.<\/p>\n<p>A contest to name the ferry, now\u00a0referred to as\u00a0Canada 2014,\u00a0closed in February.<\/p>\n<p>Federal Transport Minister Lisa Raitt was to make\u00a0the final decision on the new name, but\u00a0the winning choice has not yet been announced.<\/p>\n<p>The 43-year-old Princess of Acadia will go up for sale when the new ship arrives.<\/p>\n<p>If a new owner can't be found, the ship will likely be scrapped.<\/p>\n<p>Read more, click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/new-brunswick\/princess-of-acadia-ferry-replacement-to-set-sail-this-spring-1.3046392\">ici pour<\/a>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CBC - April 24, 2015 Result of contest to name new ferry, which will travel between Saint John and Digby, not yet released The Princess of Acadia ferry's replacement\u00a0will go into service some time this spring, according to Transport Canada.
