DSS Protection is a Canadian-owned and operated group of companies, with head office based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. We provide lifesaving, environmental, and asset protection solutions to Canada\u2019s commercial and recreational marine and aviation industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have four sales and service stations across Canada, with teams of highly trained, certified, and mobile technicians across the country. Paired with 25 years of experience, we understand what it takes to have serviced, certified and operationally ready equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marine & Aviation Safety<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our lifesaving products are carefully selected for quality, innovation, and regulatory compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Environmental Protection<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We supply a wide range of systems designed to prevent, contain, recover, and store, oil and chemicals in a marine environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Products include:<\/em><\/strong> Spill kits, sorbents, boom, turbidity curtains, skimmers, pumps, & more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asset Protection<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We supply equipment designed to protect marine assets and infrastructure, increase operational safety, and boost efficiencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW LIFEJACKET REQUIREMENTS FOR PASSENGER VESSELS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who Does This Apply To?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Owners\/operators of existing passenger vessels that are 24m or more in length operating after sunset and before sunrise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Does This Come into Effect?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This regulation came into effect in December 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adequate Lifejackets for Infants and Children:<\/strong> All passenger vessels, whether newly built or already in operation, are now required to carry lifejackets suitable for every infant and child on board. At a minimum, vessels should have enough lifejackets for 2% of the total passenger count, ensuring sufficient life-saving equipment for the youngest passengers in the event of an emergency.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Personal Locator Lights on Lifejackets: <\/strong>Passenger vessels that operate after sunset and before sunrise must equip lifejackets with personal locator lights. This addition significantly enhances safety by improving visibility in low-light conditions, allowing for easier tracking and rescue efforts if passengers enter the water.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
